First [head-space] post of 2021

head-space is a blog series in which
I share things that inspire me and that
I'm reading, learning, watching, and listening.

/ IN MY EARBUDS /

> Little Sister and I have been listening to Anastasia, lately. "Stay, I Pray You," gets me every. single. time.
> I know I'm not the only one who made a 2020 playlist, mine is going to carry a lot of nostalgia. It has some killer musical theatre stuff in it too.
> This playlist got me through a few rough weeks in January. I still listen to it when I don't know what else to put on.
> I haven't listened to Brene in a bit, but I saw someone share this on Instagram, and oh. my. word. LISTEN, I BEG YE.
> I am very excited about the start of Gabriella Llewellyn's podcast: Making an Effort!!

/ LATEST OBSESSION /

alright. I know. I know (I have said before that I am the worst at trends). One night I was scrolling through my family's Hulu account, looking at what else I might want to watch. I came upon This Is Us, and thought, "wait, isn't that Jess from Gilmore Girls?" I clicked on it and sure enough, it was. I though "eh, might be cool to watch something else he's done." So I added to my watch list. It was a few more days before I remembered and came back to it.

I was NOT PREPARED for how wonderful this show is. It's authentic and gripping and challenging. The writing is a gut punch. The casting. . .is just spectacular. The characters are layered and complex and part of me wonders if the writers study the Enneagram because I think Randall is the purest One to ever walk on a screen.

All that to say, is that I am obsessed and grateful grateful grateful that shows like this still exist. Doing justice to the craft of storytelling.

/ OTHER NEWS /

I changed my blog theme. . .again. I hadn't liked the way it looked for the longest time, and I was having some real trouble with the formatting. Even now, I cannot get rid of the weird triangles behind the "share buttons" *shrugs*. Anyway, this style - however out-of-style it looks, feels more like me and what I want this space to be: a journal without any flashing lights.

My "About" page seriously needs a refresh too. Adding that to my list of things to do this week : )

. . .

hope ya'll have a lovely weekend.
i'm off to bed.
