27 Questions Movie Tag

06:58

Hey, guys.
I saw this tag on Hailey’s blog and liked it so much that I’m doing it too. I love watching films and talking about them, so. . .you can imagine my delight, getting to gush about my favorites with you.

Let’s get into it.

Favorite action film?

Eagle Eye. Baby Driver was also memorable. And I really loved the action in Salt (although I didn’t care for the ending).

Favorite comedy film?

Any comedy Nora Ephron wrote/directed.

Fav. “dark humor” / “black comedy film?

I didn’t even know these genres existed.

Favorite scene from this film?

n/a

Favorite animated film?

I loved Zootopia. Also HTTYD is amazing.

Favorite short film?

Ummmm. . .I don’t think I’ve seen one that I can remember.

Favorite music-themed film?

Uh. I don’t watch all that many musical themed films.
Although I loved the ending to La La Land.

Favorite romance film?

I don’t know if Cinderella Man counts as romance, but if it does, that would be my top pick.

Or: any romance Nora Ephron wrote/directed.

Favorite biographical film?

SO MANY GOOD ONES. Into the Wild and Hidden Figures are both high on the list.

Favorite drama film?

AGH SO MANY GOOD ONES.

Denial
Defiance
Dances with Wolves
Bridge of Spies
The Imitation Game
Miss Sloane
The Patriot

Favorite indie film?

Don’t think I’ve seen any. . .
Oh wait! Septembers of Shiraz was an indie (I believe). It was pretty good, as far as I remember.

Favorite book adaptations?

The Light between Oceans, hands down. Just go watch it.

Films you want to see but never get around to watching?

SO MANY.

The Post
The Pianist
The Quiet Place
The Book Thief
Schindler’s List
Churchill
Snow Falling on Cedars

Favorite soundtrack?

You guys know that I can write entire blog posts about soundtracks, and I don’t just have a favorite one. But fine. Okay. Lately I have been listening to...

The Mountain Between Us
How to Train Your Dragon 3
Zero Dark Thirty

Film you refuse to see?

First one that comes to mind? Red Sparrow.

Film that you can’t wait for it to come out?

I know it’s already out, but I can’t wait to see HTTYD 3 (although I’m a little worried if it’s gonna be great or not).

Best tearjerker?

Into the Wild brought me close in a few scenes. Defiance – also a tearjerker. But I can’t say I actually cry during movies. I just feel like crying, which isn’t the same thing.

Remake you wish had never been made?

*shrugs* I can’t think of any.

Best film you’ve seen in 3D?

I’ve never seen a film in 3D.

Most beautiful film? (in terms of cinematography)

I can’t answer this. I’m the kind of person who lives for beautiful movies, okay?

I loved the work Eric Gautier did on Into the Wild. I have a feeling I’m going to love everything Janusz Kaminski does. The Tree of Life had the most creative cinematography I’ve seen in a while (but I didn’t care for the movie itself). Dead Man Walking was memorable (because Roger Deakins did it and everything he does is amazing). Also: The Greatest Showman. Interstellar. Split. Wind River. The Light between Oceans. Baby Driver. The Soloist. A Beautiful Mind.

Movie that didn’t meet your expectations?

I can think of a few.

Woman in Gold – wonderful, wonderful story but it didn’t wow me in any way. I wish it would have, though, because it really was remarkable..
The Promise – idk, I just didn’t feel it. Although it was pretty to look at.
The Greatest Showman – I know, I know. It just. . . had so much untapped story potential. Nothing against the music, though. I LOVE THE MUSIC.
Woman Walks Ahead – I was so excited for this one, but it sorely disappointed.

Movie that exceeded your expectations?

Molly’s Game. The story was unlike anything I usually watch, so I wasn't sure I'd like it. I was wrong. This film is fantastic in many, many ways.

Best cinema experience?

When I was 9, I saw Prince Caspian in a big theater and that was pretty great. Another memorable one was seeing Mockingjay pt. 1, and hearing Air Raid Drill through the theater sound system #bliss

Most surprising movie moment?

I can’t remember what moments exactly, but I remember watching Split was surprising all around.

Favorite dance sequence in a movie?

I don’t have one for a movie, unfortunately. Just tv shows.

Most disturbing movie you’ve ever seen?

Munich.
Wind River.

End of story.

. . .

Hope you enjoyed reading this. I certainly enjoyed finding films for each question. If you are looking for what film to watch next, I do highly recommend The Light between Oceans (but maybe read the book first, so you can appreciate how marvelous the adaptation is?)

hope your week is lovely.
k.
