#OneDayMay

18:58

Hello friends! Happy June!

You might have seen the #OneDayMay Instagram challenge? I'm sure you did. Anyway, it was prompt series - one for each day in May. I really wanted to participate, but before I knew it, it was over! Of course that's just how life is. But it's not too late to use it as a May recap, right? (since I haven't posted here in a hot minute). May is always a weird bundle of memories, but this May wasn't as heavy as I expected. So here's to that. Summer Chaos is about to hit - I'm ready-ish for it. It's still raining in June but that's good for plants and streams.

Hope your Friday is going splendidly.
k.

. . .

1 / start with a selfie

I'm convinced Chacos go with everything.

2 / this month I will...

I didn't make a plan for May; it is pointless to make a plan for May.

3 / what I'm reading

The Goldfinch / lots of books on Victorian decor / weaving books (apparently I decided to break in a new hobby right before summer?)

4 / a meal

These blueberry crumble bars are a keeper.

5 / someone I love

it's not like I can post a picture of my rl friend group online, but you'll have to trust me when I tell you: there are many fabulous people I am proud to be in the circles of.

6 / what would I tell myself a year ago?

you are not gonna believe where you'll end up next year

7 / my favorite place to be

8 / something I believe

I feel like I've been re-evaluating what I believe for years now, but I can say of the few things I am confident in: Shabbat is at the top of that list.

9 / Mondays look like...

I am working six days a week now, but in May, Mondays were a catch-up/thrifting/errands/chill day

10 / most used gaget or app

Instagram of course. Twitter is next but I barely stay on it for long (the vacuum makes me angry)

11 / what I'm wearing

I'm in the middle of changing the closet because it's been a disaster for years. My favorite piece right now is a size-too-big Patagonia lounge pants that I change into when I get home. They're marvelously comfy.

12 / throwback version of me

I wish the prompt would specify which year I ought to write. There are many different versions of Throwback Me, but each of them entirely depends on the year. Let's suffice it to say, I love That Me, but she was a child and didn't. have. a. clue.

13 / what I'm listening to

this josh lyman playlist / NEEDTOBREATHE's latest live album / my liked songs / anything with "You've Got Mail" vibes. I am on a serious oldies kick

14 / happiness is...

Biking downtown when the sun is shinning and planting seeds and Tuesdays. Planning upcoming trips and movie nights. Hanging by the beach with a book. It's hard to universally define happiness but those are my little things.

15 / my body is telling me

Vitamins are right there, buddy ; )

16 / my mantra is

I can't say I have one

17 / something I don't usually share

: D

18 / someone I admire

I'm will go out on a limb and say fictional characters are allowed, so: CJ Craig.

19 / I'm proud of myself for

just. . .the sheer amount of new things I have done/decided to do this year. The velocity of my life has taken me by surprise. Who would have thought '22 would be the year I knocked some of the biggest items off the list? It's all happening at a rate that has left me grasping for words to describe it all, to capture these feelings so they don't fade into a hypnagogic bundle I can never access again.

20 / a corner of my home

21 / I miss...

A few very specific things.

22 / what I'm learning

I can dream aaallll I want but nothing changes unless I make the darn phone call

23 / beauty/style/grooming recs.

I am absolutely the wrong person to ask.

24 / quote or song lyric

"I mean, someone somewhere is probably gonna do something really great. But most of us will just eat dinner and walk the dog and watch a little too much tv. Lots of us are just gonna work in retail." - read the whole thing I beg you

25 / a struggle right now is...

navigating the complexities of life when it's just you, responsible for you / knowing the best thing to say / realizing you missed out on things but you're still okay

26 / what is saving my life

still trying to figure this out

27 / something I do for fun

think about buying a kayak : D

28 / what I'm watching

WEST WING

see how I made the font bigger? that's an indictation that I am withholding my thoughts on the supreme excellence of this show. There isn't much I don't love about it - other than the fact that I'm scared to start season five.

29 / what I know for sure

I have a strong dislike for this promt, but not because of it. No, because I can't think of how the quote goes "nothing is certain but change" and I REALLY WISH I COULD REMEMBER WHO SAID IT.

30 / what I want for the next three months

I the same about making 3 month plans as I do about making a May plan, but I realize I do have a few things I want to go right this summer:

1. stay alive
2. visit a national park
3. get a kayak? go kayaking? both?

31 / this is who I am right now

sitting at my laptop at 12:21, breakfast has been eaten, coffee has been consumed, thinking about the spreadsheet(s) I need to be making for this theatre project I signed up for, and wondering, a bit, if I can accurately pull off the "vision" the way I want to. I'm sad it's Friday but this week definitely needs to end. I need to do laundry when I off work, but also enjoy the 15 second patches of sunlight, oh - and plants to repot.
the list never ends but I'm doing good

. . .

How are you? Tell me what's new or what you're loving lately!

  2. I absolutely read this the day it hit my email and immediately failed to comment. What else is new.

But I *love* how you did this, making the #OneDayMay prompts a blog post. So so fun!!

"I didn't make a plan for May; it is pointless to make a plan for May." <-- truly made me laugh out loud. Truer words have never been spoken.

I cannot wait to visit that lake of yours one of these days. It is THE DREAMIEST.

Wildly, wildly proud of you, my friend. xx
